One's spirituality can not be a 2nd hand experirnce or 3rd hand experience, but for some people it is; so therefore the blame must be fairly laid on the followers who do not question and who do not try to think for themselves. When I say this I am not thinking of those raised in strict cults and not physically allowed to see or try the alternstives. One book says that the fool (who knows better and who still follows the fool is a worse fool than the fool (that he is following). I think the reasoning is that a fool might be sincerely deluded and tryimg to lead (and thus not trying to be a fraud but the one who knows ot suspects that this is the case but does not go further and still follows is culpable, very culpable. Some do not believe this or worse act like they do not believe this. It is a bit if coward ness to not develop oneself or to learn who one is. When one knows who one is then false choice will feel inauthentic, but how does a person be authentic without the self examination and mental and emotional and spiritual work? The answer is that one adopts a facade of being spiritual or being whatever model one rolls towards; I say roll towards because it is nkt a conscious choice but more like winding up near the center of the bed when the heavier person makes the bed sag or like a picture if how gravity works with the dips on a flat surface. We shoukd be generating our own gravity and steering our own boat.
